I wanted to see how close of a style I could get to H.R. Giger after watching a documentary on him. I was busy or lazy at the time I did this, so I left it in a half "cartoon" type of style with the black outlines around everything. No one seemed to complain and I'm happy with how it looks myself. Maybe I can refine it later. I do often look at works like this and go back to see how far I can push them into looking realistic.
The theme I had in mind when drawing this was something like "Life vs. Death" but also "Man vs. Machine". Maybe these two concepts have something in common. Is there something about the mechanics which man creates which stem from our fear of death? Are we creating our own prisons by trapping ourselves with our own inventions? Where will the future lead us as we merge closer with our technology and science?
